About

For most of my life I spent my time trying to infuse my personality into my living space. Even as a preteen I would put up wallpaper border and paint my own room. As I became an adult I did the typical DIY projects like paint, sewing a simple pillow, planting flowers from the local big box store or printing out my own art.

When I hit the big 4-0, while staring at my outdated downstairs bathroom, I decided to just go for it. I always shied away from major power tools (saw my finger off? no thank you..) but I knew the only way to get the look I wanted which included upgrading a tattered vanity, replace the 90’s granite in the shower etc, I needed to take the plunge and teach myself how to use all the SCARY power tools. The first power saw I ever attempted was a wet saw for tile. I know, quite a bold move! Once I conquered that, I felt empowered to try it all. I demo’d the entire bathroom! Since then, with the guidance of a few favorite home blogs, google, Pinterest and of course You Tube, there isn’t much I haven’t tried to tackle in my home. From flooring, drywall, tile, plumbing, electrical, exterior stucco, even rebuilding and repairing my gas fireplace. All while being a mom to three!

Budget has always been a major factor in what I do and doing it yourself, better known as DIY, has given me the opportunity to change my home the way I want it. It goes without saying it’s not professional and no where near perfect, but my sense of pride and accomplishment overrides that.

Along the way I indulge in my passion of gardening. Like with most things, I am very DIY focused and try to grow from seed. It is definitely a practice in patience. But come June when the garden is singing, I relish in the beauty.

A fun fact about me, I am obsessed with all things UK. I’ve been known to indulge in cozy murder mysteries, collect Royal knick nacks and have a secret dream of retiring in the Cotswolds to garden and solve a murder or two.

Join me in my journey to teach myself (and maybe you) all about design and creating a space you and I can love and proud to call our own.
